Flat batteries in Hammersmith & Fulham
Where cars go flat here, and how we reach them.
Fulham's grid of terraced streets from Parsons Green to Sands End is permit parking end to end, and thousands of those cars only move on a Saturday; around Stamford Bridge the zones F and S are controlled from 8.30am to 10pm seven days a week. Westfield London on Ariel Way has more than 4,000 spaces across car parks A, B and C with a 2.1 metre height limit, entry from 5am to 3am and exit around the clock, and it brings in shoppers and office staff who come back to a flat battery after a long day; Livat Hammersmith, the centre that used to be Kings Mall, adds a 625-space car park reached via King Street and Cambridge Grove onto Glenthorne Road. Charing Cross Hospital on Fulham Palace Road has a small number of pay-and-display bays outside the main entrance and by the education centre. The A4 and Hammersmith gyratory are where the callouts on the move happen, and Hammersmith Bridge has been closed to all motor vehicles since April 2019, so nothing crosses the river there. We cover all of it, including the riverside developments at Imperial Wharf.

Hammersmith & Fulham questions
Before you call.
Can you reach me at Westfield London or the White City car parks?
Yes. Westfield's car parks A to D, the Ariel Way car park and the Television Centre car park are all covered. The letter matters: Westfield London's car parks share a postcode and are far enough apart that the wrong one means a long walk across the site, so give us the car park letter and the level. Cover runs 24 hours a day, so a car that will not start after the shops close is no different from one at midday. The A40 Westway and A219 Fulham Palace Road are our routes in, and the area is usually 30 to 45 minutes outside event times.
Do you cover Chelsea and Fulham match days?
Yes. On match days the roads around Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage close for a few hours before and after the game, so tell us where you are and which side of the ground, and we route the technician to whichever approach is still open. That detail is worth more than the postcode on a match day, when coming in from the wrong direction can add twenty minutes. The A4 Great West Road and A3220 North End Road usually give us an alternative way round. The price does not change because there is a fixture on, and cover runs 24 hours a day for cars that fail after an evening game.
Can you reach Livat Hammersmith and the Charing Cross Hospital bays?
Yes. Livat Hammersmith, the shopping centre formerly known as Kings Mall, has a 625-space car park reached from King Street via Cambridge Grove onto Glenthorne Road; it closes to incoming vehicles between midnight and 6am but stays open for exit 24 hours, so a car that dies late is not locked in, and the technician walks the pack in from Glenthorne Road if the entrance is shut. Charing Cross Hospital on Fulham Palace Road has only a small number of general pay-and-display bays, outside the main entrance and near the education centre, plus ten free blue-badge bays, and most visitors park on Claybrook Road, Margravine Road and St Dunstan's Road instead, so tell us the road and house number rather than the hospital. Stay with the car in both cases.
What are the parking rules around Stamford Bridge on a Chelsea match day?
The streets around Stamford Bridge sit in the council's zones F and S, which are controlled from 8.30am to 10pm Monday to Sunday, not just on match days, and non-residents are limited to two hours in zone F and one hour in zone S. That means a supporter's car parked on a Fulham side street for a whole match and a drink afterwards has usually overstayed by the time it fails to start. Our technician stops beside the car for the few minutes the jump takes, so tell us the street and house number, the zone letter on the nearest sign, and whether the car is in a bay. For an hour after the final whistle the Fulham Road and Fulham Broadway are choked with people on foot, so give us a side street where the technician can actually stop.
How quickly can you reach me in London?
Across the 33 boroughs we arrive within 30 to 60 minutes of your call on average, and faster inside the North and South Circular. We give you a realistic time when you book rather than an optimistic one, and we tell you straight away if it will be longer. The hour makes no difference to the cover: we run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including Christmas Day and bank holidays, so a three in the morning callout is handled exactly like a midday one. Traffic is the main variable, particularly the A406 North Circular, the A205 South Circular and the river crossings. If you are somewhere with restricted access, such as an airport car park, a gated development or an underground residents' bay, say so when you call so we reach you first time.
How much does a jump start cost?
A car jump start starts at £49, a van at £65, and a hybrid or EV 12V boost at £59. The price is confirmed before we set off and it does not change at night, at weekends, on bank holidays or inside the ULEZ and congestion charge zones. There is no call-out fee stacked on top and no mileage charge across the 33 boroughs. A battery health test starts at £25 on its own and is free with any jump start, and a new battery is from £95 fitted. You pay when the job is done, by card, cash, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If we cannot start the car, we tell you why and you pay the callout only.
Do I need a membership?
No. Jump Start London is pay-as-you-go, so there is no membership, no annual fee, no joining cost and no sign-up before you can call. That is the main difference between us and a breakdown club: you are not paying a subscription all year for something you may use once. Call when you need us, get the price confirmed before we set off, and pay only for that job by card, cash, Apple Pay or Google Pay when it is finished. There is no contract afterwards and nothing to cancel. If you already belong to a breakdown club you are still free to call us when their wait is longer than ours.
Can you get to a car in an underground or barrier car park?
Yes. Most London jump starts happen in car parks rather than on driveways, and a great many are underground residents' bays where nothing can get alongside you. Our technicians carry a compact lithium jump pack to the car on foot, so there is no need to bring a second vehicle in and no need for the bay next to you to be free. That is the practical reason a pack beats jump leads down there. Two things help before you go below ground. Agree the price and the time while you still have signal, and tell the concierge or car park office a technician is coming so they can point them to your level. Height barriers are not an obstacle.
